Brandon is an admitted geek, pop culture junkie, and fan of learning all things techie. When Brandon gets the time he loves to see new movies, hang with friends, learn new things from colleagues, swim, and play games. Brandon currently serves as the Microsoft Learning Consultant for Microsoft in Education. He spends his time in schools across Colorado providing free PD and Support in Skype, Sway, OneNote, and Minecraft: Education Edition.
Brandon, as well, is co-founder, with Penny Potts, of #COllapporative - an educational network which provides free, year-round professional development opportunities focused on best practices for integrating digital tools into classrooms. Brandon has worked as a Field Support Specialist for Denver Public Schools, and a Teacher and Course Developer for Douglas County School District.
Over the past year, Brandon has developed a huge appreciation for Computer Science and the power it plays in a lot of jobs in our world. Brandon enjoys exploring that world and figuring out how to best prepare everyone for the skills needed to fill careers within Computer Science.

Brandon Petersen currently serves as the Microsoft Learning Consultant for the Colorado region creating globally connected classrooms by directly with schools and educators to support the implementation of innovative Microsoft technologies.
Brandon previously spent time working for Share Fair Nation & mindSpark Learning as a Director of Professional Learning helping to provide transformational and hands-on professional development focused on learner profiles, computer science, and integrating innovative technologies. In his teaching days, he spent over 10 years teaching in the Douglas County School District (DCSD) and over a year in Denver Public Schools (DPS). Brandon spent his first four years as a Preschool Teacher at Sand Creek Elementary and then another four years as a Technology Integration Specialist at Sand Creek. He was most recently a Personalized Learning Specialist in DPS working with 400 teachers to create more student-centric approaches to learning in their classrooms.
Brandon is a member of the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) and is a National Presenter on Educational Technology as well as Learning Strategies for Preschool & Kindergarten Classrooms. Brandon also volunteers time serving as a Board Director for Innovative Education Colorado, an organization that provides a statewide technology conference to Colorado educators, and on the Teacher Advisory Board for the Nathan Yip Foundation, a foundation focused on bringing equitable educational opportunities to rural Colorado educators.
Brandon has a Masters degree in Elementary Education with specialized focus in Educational Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Brandon also holds both a Teaching and Principalship Licensure through the Colorado Department of Education.
